Two New Things

Firstly, I received a note from Jenny, the Bloggess, this morning that told me that she had included my website as one of the featured blogs on Good Mom/Bad Mom's "BS Sunday" at MomHouston.com. My heart did this fluttery thing, and I hugged myself with a bit of sweet joy, and then I ran to the kitchen to grab a chunk of this spicy sausage that the Palinode picked up on a trip, because this particular kind of spicy sausage is amazing and perfect for celebrating, especially when paired with a small slice of smoked gouda.

Secondly, I've started doing reviews. DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT. I am in no way going to foist them upon you here. I am just going to occasionally slide a link in here to let you know that I've done a review over there, and if you happen to click on that link, let it be known that it will be entirely your fault that you went over there in the first place. Of course, some of you might very well want to go over there. That's the way us humans work, all of us wanting different things at different times all over the place. It's a wacky world we live in.

My first review ever, which I am hoping you want to read, is here: "On the Road".

It is really mostly like a weblog entry you might find here, except that it is over there and mentions BlogHer and the movie "Nights in Rodanthe".

See? It's painless.

How My Life Was Made Less Poopy

I love your blog awardI have been given the I Love Your Blog award by Karen of Miscellaneous Adventures of an Aussie Mum. She has no idea how much better this has made my morning, which was already filled with cheese-stealing cats, a sudden summer cold, spilled coffee, and an actual, bona-fide bag of shit.

Not to draw too much attention away from this lovely award, but seriously? A surprise bag of fresh shit is a lot less fun than you might imagine.

But back to the award at hand. Blogging and I have a happy codependency that no therapist could tear asunder, and it feels so good to be recognized for my favourite obsession. As it happens to be with this type of award, there a few rules to follow, and I am more than happy to do so, because passing on this kind of appreciation can only give us all a case of the warm fuzzies. The rules are:

  • Link the person you received your award from.
  • Nominate 7 other blogs.
  • Put links to those blogs on yours.
  • Leave a message on the blogs of the people you’ve nominated.

  • In no particular order, I bestow the I Love Your Blog award upon the following:

Her Bad Mother, because Catherine is a woman of rare literary talent, which inspires me to be a better and more thoughtful writer.

3hive, because that's where I find new-to-me music I love that I never would have had the opportunity to hear otherwise.

The Bloggess, because when my brain is thinking all sorts of nasty things that I'd rather it not, Jenny's writing takes my brain down little, winding paths of absurdity until I don't know how to get back from whence I came.

Out of Character, because Erin kills me.

Counting Sheep, because Notquiteawake also kills me.

bighappyfunhouse, because vintage vernacular photography plays the harp strings of my heart.

I Blame the Patriarchy, because who couldn't love an über-feminist spinster aunt who goes by the name Twisty Faster?

Read these fine weblogs and bask in the goodness.

FuelMyBlog Blog of the DayAnd do you know what else has made this literal bag-of-shit day a little less craptacular? In honour of my celebrating this website's fifth anniversary, FuelMyBlog has made this place their Blog of the Day.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go and scrape down my poop-caked moleskine and my member's card for the hoity toity pet shop that sold us the cat food that started this whole poop process in the first place.

The poop cometh, and poop is flushethed away.

    Awards!

I have been favoured with TWO awards. I am a rock star today.

Blogtations Award - March 2008The first award was given to me for being voted the most favourite quote in March. The quote is about an incident that was embarrassing at the time, but I can live with that if glue accidents can make you famous:
"... I glued myself to a tacky Christmas ornament at work in July and spent two hours trying to help customers without letting on that my right-handed self had a ceramic puppy driving a choo-choo train glued to her right hand."

    Thanks, Blogtations!

I Love You This Much AwardThis second award was bestowed upon me by Average Jane, and it originated from Emila's Illustrated Blog.

    The participation rules are simple:
    1. If you have received this award, write a post with links to all the blogs that you love.
    2. Link to Emila's original award post so that others can easily find the source of the award.

This one's easy. Go to my blogroll and visit everyone there twice. So, everyone on my blogroll, grab that badge and love some people up.

    Thanks, Average Jane!

I am off to procure a feather boa now.
