A Fairly Brief Video Tour of Our New, Partially Re-Painted Home

Here is a brief, brief, brief tour of our new place mid-paint job.

I apologize for the weird skinny video thing. I shot this with my iPhone's native camera, because I couldn't get my other video app to load any of my videos.



And now I'm taping over my hand blisters so I can finish up the paint job and finally be done with the smoker's yellow walls so we can move into a beautiful home on Sunday.

Do you have any video app suggestions? I really like 8mm, but I want the option of recording without a filter.

The Happiest Little Painter Alive Today

If you are waiting to hear from me, this is what's keeping me away from my usual duties this week:



I am painting the entire interior of our new condo.

Don't judge the colours by what you see on my hands there. That's tinted primer. I'm a little freaked out about how our place is shaping up to look like the guts of a giant, inside out birthday cake, but I'm keeping the faith until the actual paint sets.

I'm trying to get all the painting done before Sunday when we move all our stuff in, and I feel like I should have trained for this. I knocked my left kneecap out with the ladder yesterday, and my right side is telling me that it wants muscle relaxants and a hot bath.

If you see someone hobbling down the street in a Homestar Runner t-shirt who looks like a children's birthday party threw up on her, that's me, the happiest little painter alive today.

Paint Colours That Inspire Love and Horror

Now that we suddenly find ourselves the proud new owners of a condo and have a couple of weeks before we move in, I am dreaming about paint.



The previous owner painted the walls in a darker cream with a couple of very dark burgundy accent walls, so I am looking forward to lightening up the mood of the space with bright, light colours and a couple of vibrant spots to give it some spark.



I have been surrounded by basic rental apartment white for twenty years, so I am more than a little excited to put some pizazz into the place. I think that's how I found myself falling for brighter and brighter colours as I went along.



I started off with some nice blues and greens, because I've always wanted to find that perfect robin's egg blue for a wall I could call my own, but damn it if the rest of the crayon box of colours didn't start looking pretty good, too.



And that's how I found myself thinking that Snow Cone Green, Rumba Orange, and Rose Parade might be just what I need. They probably aren't what I need, and the Palinode's probably having minor heart attacks looking at some of the colours I've laid out here, but they're pretty, yes? I think they're damn spanky.



I haven't picked out the two or three brighter colours I want yet, so let me know what inspires or horrifies you.

If the whole enterprise turns out disastrously, we can always repaint, right?
