We Were On a Boat!
Wednesday, August 15, 2012
The Palinode and took a short trip up to Waskesiu in Prince Albert National Park over last weekend and early this week.
I spent half the time locked away in a room in my pajamas trying to work armed only with my computer and the slowest internet known to man since 1996 dial-up.
I did get out, though, if only to make sense of the fact that we had travelled five hours north to one of the most beautiful places on earth.
As you can see, we went sailing!
We didn't really sail so much as my two uncles did things with masts and sails and ropes while the Palinode and I took in one of the most gorgeous days I've seen all summer.
You know what I learned? There is no email on a boat in the middle of a lake that doesn't have wifi.
I need my own portable giant lake with no wifi that I can roll out when needed.
Are you very excited by all these pictures I took on the boat?
I bet you are.
It's okay now, though, because it's almost over.
See? All better. There, there.

I love the idea of boats but am a terrible sailor. I get so sick. The clouds over the lake are so fascinating. Little globules of meringue floating there. Our summer has been so hot/humid this year. Not too many truly beautiful summer days to get outside. I feel like I've spent most of it inside.
Those clouds were made for lounging on. I think sailing on a sailboat is somewhere on my Life List. I probably need to go in and make some revisions on that thing. But I'll keep the sailing one because it looks so lovely.
Love the photos though I hoped to see some of your uncles, too. I think it's time for me to spend some time on a boat...
Those pictures are absolutely gorgeous. So much texture in them.
Love the photos, and especially the one of the two of you. You are the cutest.
I love the photos. They brought back memories from my youth spent sailing in the 1000 Islands with my parents. And then you showed the photo of the sail. T22! That's what my parents first boat was - a Tanzer 22. Oh how I loved that boat. And when I was old enough my dad let my boyfriend and I take it for weekends all by ourselves. Carefree days of bliss.
Thanks for the little trip :-)
I love these so much. You are beautiful people. (And that is a beautiful place!)
These are really a great set of photos, I love the contrast of the black and white, the sail pic looking up is the best.
i love these... the clouds, oh my. i too am emphatically not a sailor at my belly (oomph) but i wish i were and these sorts of images capture what i love about the open water but usually miss due to seasickness.
by the way, i have only just found your blog but i really like it. i love what you have to say and how authentic and funny and sweet you are in your writings here. as someone with my own complicated story dealing with alcohol, family, gender, etc - thank you for your putting your thoughts out there to share. :)
Your photos are fantastic. Just, wow. Incredible.
I need to go to Waskesiu one time. The problem is that it reminds me of a certain someone, not because we went there, but because he talked about it all the time, and things that remind me of that person bring up heaps of anxiety. And I avoid those things at all costs.
But it is so, so beautiful.
