The Serenity Suite at BlogHer '12: We Bring the Calm

Serenity SuiteThis post is really for BlogHer '12 conference attendees, so if you're not a BlogHer '12 attendee, then you can just mosey on along, because this will bore you to death, and we very much prefer you alive.

I'm here to tell you about the Serenity Suite at BlogHer '12. The Serenity Suite is "... the place where you can go during the conference to enjoy a little quiet time away from the crowd but still hang with your friends", and I will be volunteering there over the conference weekend. It is a mellow, alcohol-free zone where you can just hang out in an oasis of quiet calm away from the melee. As someone with both anxiety and addiction issues, this has been an invaluable place for me over my years at BlogHer conferences.

For those of you who are sober, there will be space for private recovery meetings in the Serenity Suite, and we will also have a listing of local New York recovery meetings if you want to find a group away from the hotel. In general, I have found people at the conference to be very supportive of my sobriety, but it is always good to know that there is a warm place for you relax away from the conference hubbub without hiding out in your room alone.

So, if you are worried about feeling overwhelmed at BlogHer '12, please know that there is a space for you to hang out and get all your hyperventilation/worry/crying out and get hugs/chat/take a nap, or you can just abuse us for our sweet tranquility.

The Serenity Suite will be in the Hilton in Suite 4246 with coffee, tea, and water, soft places to sit, and room to breathe. You can check out Heather's blog for updates, and I will be volunteering there on Saturday, August 4 from 10 a.m. until noon.

If you're at BlogHer '12, I'll see you there!

If I'm awake before 10 a.m. on Saturday, I will stop by. I plan on taking advantage of comfortable beds and NO CHILDREN as much as I possibly can.

This was great to read. Congrats to you! I look forward to stopping by when I need to regroup. I am not fond of massive crowds, so it is just great knowing that the room will be there if I need some peace and quiet. Thank you to all the volunteers to make this happen! This is my first conference and I am looking forward to it.
