Dye and a Hair Cut, Two Bits

I gave myself a home dye job and a haircut today, and then I somehow lost the ability to take decent iPhone photos. I proved myself to be beyond cool on all fronts.



I am the worst sort of person, if you are the sort of person who judges people for cutting their own hair.

I know I am that sort of person. One of my favourite insults? That person looks like he/she cuts his/her own hair.

My hypocrisy is naked.



As a change, I left a little more on top than usual. Yes, that is a little more on top than usual.

Also, yes, I did it blind without my glasses, and, yes, I think I missed a patch of hair there on the side with the dye.



I think I look pretty cute, regardless.



On tomorrow's agenda? I'm buying another box of hair dye. Patchy dye jobs cannot be passed off as a justifiable style choice. Even if you feel cute.

You look beyond adorable. I've never had my hair professionally colored, and yesterday I cut my own bangs so I could go yet another month without a professional haircut. (My last one was in November). We are not cheap, Schumtzie, we are RESOURCEFUL.

I've been cutting my own hair for three years now. And it's long, so I have to trim it, and I layer it too. And I do my own bangs. Luckily I wear it pretty messy and very wavy/curly most of the time so maybe people don't notice. But maybe they do. and they're too nice/judgy to say anything. Hmm... I think I need to ask a friend what she thinks.

However, I don't judge you - I think it's awesome and you look great!

Hot pro tip: wrap the arms of your spectacles in aluminum foil and voilà: non-blind hair-colouring. As a fellow self-dyer, I recommend this highly from personal experience.

Love. I cut my bangs, and it's always pretty ridic. I'm actually about to go buy more hair dye too, since my last week's didn't take. Home hair color. hit or miss, but so cheap.

I'm not a brave self-cutter, so I only do it when my hair is long enough that I'm just managing the split ends. I'm very curly, so I can mess up pretty badly before it's really noticable. I have, after a lifetime of not dyeing*, discovered henna which is awesome, cheap, and good for my hair. Yay!

* I almost wrote "a lifetime of not dying", which I guess is pretty self-evident if I'm around to write this :-P
