People That Are Made Of Awesome
Saturday, September 5, 2009 I made wise use of my time this afternoon and searched "made of awesome" to see who Google brought up. It turns out that a good deal of people in this world are made of awesome, which is good to know. Now I can stop moaning about how much people suck, especially because I know that people in general don't suck and it is sheer spiritual laziness that has me occasionally declare that hell is other people. There is always someone around who spreads the love.
I have compiled my findings into two categories: People That Others Declared to Be Made of Awesome and People That Declared Themselves to Be Made of Awesome. The latter category is my favourite, because I get a kick out of narcissism.
10 People That Others Declared to Be Made of Awesome:
- Don Newman
- Marrit's kid
- David Tennant
- George Hrab
- Jennifer Garner and her daughter Violet
- Al Franken
- Gary Busey
- Richelle Mead
- Matthew Baldwin's son
- Neil Patrick Harris

10 People That Declared Themselves to Be Made of Awesome:

Neil Patrick Harris should be NUMBER ONE DAMMIT!
And you didn't find me there because I am like awesome personified. But you won't find that in a google search cause I am rather humble, and stealth like ninja.
This makes me want to be awesome and DECLARE IT SO.
In the meantime, I am made of good-enough and Nutella because I consume so much of it.
This post is made of awesome. Haha, I couldn't help myself.
My husband is a HUGE Chuck Norris fan. He loves all those little CN sayings. Like "When the boogeyman goes to sleep every night he checks his closet for Chuck Norris."
I think YOU are made of awesome.
i like miranda w. the bestest, that may be a good way to go for the resume route.
my son Dakota is obsessed with the whole Chuck Norris subculture of jokes. the latest i loved:
Chuck Norris doesn't have a command button on his computer because he's always in control
A) that last video? Was TOTALLY awesome. I feel sick just thinking about eating 30 peeps...or was it 34? and 2) I love that she challenged her friend to make a video explaining how she was made of FAIL.
love this list. And Google. Where would be be without ye, google?
Fantastically amused! I'm all reading your blog in my Reader, and there's my friend Cory Haugen! Lest he be listed forever in the annals of the narcissists, let me assure you that he is, in fact, made of awesome. (My husband says that I should also say that he is made of tool.)
Also made of awesome: John and Hank Green. They should be the top of the list!
(Do you know the origins of the Peep challenge and why it goes hand in hand with being made of awesome?)
I've never eaten a peep and now I feel like I'm made of fail.
Kate, I do not know where the Peep-eating challenge started, but it looks perfectly awful. I feel for the girl.
Nat, I, too, have lived a Peep-less life. I think we might not have them in Canada.
Okay, line up some video-watching time. :)
John and Hank Green are the vlogbrothers on YouTube. They're also the founders of the NerdFighter movement. Their videos are the first place I heard the phrase "made of awesome" or "full of awesome." Their vlogging adventures started out as a communication tool between two brothers, and ended up as an online phenomenon with something like 8 gazillion viewers per video. (John Green is also an award-winning YA novelist.)
To shorten a rather long story, John pledged to eat 1 Peep for every $10 donated to a charitable cause. He wanted to do it - they've eaten worse - but his doctor told him that he couldn't consume ANY sugar right then due to some health issue. Rather than let him forfeit his pledge, his fans - other NerdFighters - ate the Peeps for him, largely on video. Hence, bizarre and seemingly pointless YouTube videos about Peep-eating and being made of awesome.
Ummmm... okay, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTW43AU94TE" rel="nofollow">this is probably the initial video about John failing to eat the Peeps. 102 of them, as it turns out. And I think that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OgOkyi1Ab8" rel="nofollow">this is the video where he thanks everyone for eating the Peeps for him.
Kate, thanks for the back story!
Hilarious. THANK YOU. Chuck Norris did it for me, but the entire list was BRILLIANT.
My husband is made of awesome. Just ask any of our grandkids, they'll totally agree with me :)
Loved the post! Thanks!
Yes, John and Hank Green have created the Nerdfighter community and the #1 requirement for being a Nerdfighter is to be Made of Awesome.
Also, ALSO, aside from the peeps video, you should also search for John Green's "Nerdfighter Marriage Proposal" because that was ME!
(I'm still a little excited, and also thrilled to be included in a list of people made of awesome, even if it is self-declared, though you can hear in the video I mentioned that John Green himself declares me to be so.)
Agree with whoever said Neil Patrick Harris should be higher on the list (below me).
Thanks for recognizing my awesomeness. I'm so gonna send your link to those doubting my awesome status.
