10 Links On A Friday

It is easy to forget the importance of salutations in e-mail, so I found "Anatomy of a Salutation" by Liz Danzico to be a good reminder and guide.

I Love You Forever and Always is a collection of love letters sent to a boy named Jon during the 1980s. (sound warning)

ProBlogger asks an interesting question: "If Your Blog Died Today... What Would It Be Remembered For?"

If you watch the movie 'Jaws' backwards, it's a movie about a shark that keeps throwing up people until they have to open a beach.

Check out Time's 25 Best Blogs of 2009.

The size of this giant rat will haunt you for weeks.

Read "Skinny Dipping in Reality: A coot's account of the great hippy LSD enlightenment search party" by Joe Bageant. As one who did her fair share of LSD, I found this an interesting read.

"In Defense of Readers" by Mandy Brown at A List Apart has some good design advice: As a designer, the only way to ensure that the page makes for good reading is to read it yourself; to relinquish the design sensibility that is inclined to look at text and take the time to actually read it. It’s not an easy task, but then, neither is reading on the web, and making the effort may help you empathize with the reader’s plight. The web is still a noisy, crowded place—but it’s also limitless, and surely we can find space enough for reading—a space where the text speaks to the reader and the reader does not strain to hear.

I love photographs of abandoned buildings, and the ones of Cane Hill Asylum are gorgeous. The ones of an abandoned caravan in the woods are also deeply engaging.

I totally emailed you my good news for GiST with no salutation at all! Thanks for the reminder; I'm a stickler at work, so I don't know why I slacked on that one. Now I must go back and see the rat. I think.

I will not click on the giant rat link. I will not click on the giant rat link. I will not click on the giant rat link...

I clicked and now will have giant rat nightmares.

When will I ever learn? lol

Thanks - I LOVE the asylum pictures. I'm going to layer one of them into some art. Now I'm off to go look at the giant rat.

Oh my god. Maybe I shouldn't have looked at that. I definitely shouldn't have read the bit about Chinese restaurants and giant rats.
