Ten Things That Are Getting Me Down, or Why Today Suckethed Mightily

  1. I went out to the gay bar for two-dollar beer last night, and all I got was this hideous hangover.

  2. The H1N1 strain of the flu took my friend Dougal, who was just shy of his 32nd birthday.

  3. A friend is struggling with the pain of her marriage ending.

  4. I have a birthday on December 29th, and I am one of those people who is entirely too preoccupied with death to enjoy them.

  5. Sunset was at 4:55 p.m. today.

  6. I have issues with seasonal depression. My issue? I hate it.

  7. I feel like I have stories bubbling just below the surface, but ever since I completed NaBloPoMo, the words just won't come as easily as I am used to.

  8. There is nothing more interesting to eat around here for supper other than popcorn.

  9. All three of our radiators have started leaking like running faucets:

  10. I think I am going to buy four Snuggies. No, I know I am going to buy four Snuggies. Or at least some kind of slanket equivalent. My brain's predictable reaction to advertising is pathetic.

My best friend's birthday is 12/29. I'm convinced only awesome people are born that day. (For what it's worth.)

Sounds like you need to hibernate under all those Snuggies. Sorry for all the suckiness, my friend. 2010 can't come fast enough!

My birthday is December 29th. And yours. And Pablo Casals and Marianne Faithfull. We are in EXCELLENT company, if I may say so myself.

Gah, early sunsets are a major bummer. Hopefully everything gets better!

I hated today as well. Hated.

Also, when are we making multiple trips to the bathroom while drinking multiple pints again?

Also also, I was in the mall the other day and you weren't. I was sad.

I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. That would be an awful day all by itself.

Gad. So sorry about your friend, my heart goes out to his friends and family. Hope your month improves!

Very sorry to hear about your friend. My son will be 20 on 12/29.. it's a wonderful day! :)

ah babe. Thinking about you. Get in those snuggies for a bit. Don't worry about anything. Unplug for a day and recharge. I am sorry it is sucky- but good is right around the corner...promise. xoxo

It has been a hard winter (cue "Long December from Counting Crows") but I just try tell myself that spring does, eventually, come. For everyone.

Also, 12/29 is my brother's birthday and he is a very creative and genuine person.

Advice: get the Slanket. I did some research and decided the Slanket was superior to the Snuggie. I just got mine (in orange!) and love it. It feels well-made, no cheap and lame. It's brilliant.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. (and all of the other things getting you down, too.)

Is the radiator leaking from the air vent (the round silver device on the side of the unit)? If so, that is a pretty easy fix.

Thursday, December 17, 2009 | Unregistered Commentersumo

sumo, luckily, it's the side unit. We're going to have our landlord fix them.

I know the sucketh well.

May Santa, or perhaps the Birthday Fairy, bring you a SAD lamp for the season. Sears has one for $200 and worth every penny.

Thursday, December 17, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterBad Mummy

All that stuff sucks. And I know the SAD of which you speak. I dread this time of year all year long.

Thursday, December 17, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSUEB0B

I am so entirely tempted to buy you the zebra print snuggie I saw at Walgreen's today.

flutter, ha!
