Ask Me A Question, I'll Tell You No Lies
Sunday, October 18, 2009 I was over at Blackbird's place today, and she was asking her readers, and especially those who rarely or never comment, to ask her questions that she will answer in a future entry. For a couple of reasons, I always like weblog entries like this: the weblog's author ends up writing about things that all us readers want to know, it is fascinating to see what the commenters want to know about, and it reveals an ongoing conversation between author and readers that reminds me of the community aspect of blogging that I love so much.
I checked back through my archives, and I haven't done this since July 2007, so I thought I'd open up the floor. Ask me anything. I can't promise that I will answer every question, but, within reason, I'll give it my best.
Shoot. What do you want to know?

You wanna have beer and ribs with me sometime?
How did you meet the Palinode? And did you both grow up in the same nook of Canada?
How did you get to where you are today with your blog popularity? Was it an accident? Or did you hustle and hit the pavement until you began to see results?
What band would you like to be the lead singer of?
Hello Schmutzie.
- What's your favorite place and what are some memories or incidents happened there.
- What topic that you're interested in, but you never gets to write it?
- What are some fascinating cultures that you love?
:]
I don't have a question (sorry)but I want to say how much I like the new banner.
What has been the one moment in your life that you feel has defined you, as a person?
This one is pretty forward but... are you really able to make ends meet between blogging, selling things on Etsy, and designing mastheads? If so, that is awesome. You are living my dream.
Also, I've been reading this blog for months now and have yet to see a picture of you!
Are you all catted out, or would you add one more to the mix?
Why/How did you and the Palinode decide to get married, and how did it all go down? (By which I mean, what was the wedding like?) I am interested because a) I always want to know how unconventional people manage such a convention-ridden thing, and b) it can be a very gendered thing and given your non-traditional gender identity, I'd be interested to know how you managed aspects of that?
Do you identify as mennonite, and if so, what does that mean to you?
(from a slightly confused atheist menno)
where is the ketchup?
I hope I don't sound like an idiot.
I see that you are "a 36-year-old, queer-identified writer, blogger, etc." but, and I think I'm right about this, you're a girl and The Palinode is a boy, right? So how did that happen or...what does that mean...or something? Having a rather complicated sexuality/relationship myself, I'm very interested in this answer, or anything else you say, really. I think you're very interesting. -smile-
Also, do you ever worry that since the cats outnumber the people in your home now, they'll attempt to take over? This keeps me up at night, since our feline population has officially reached 3.
I LOVE all of the questions so far. You're right... by answering them you'll end up (just about) answering questions all of your readers have.
I've been curious lately about your link blog and how in the world you find all of the crazy things you find. How do you come up with all of them???
how did you come up with GiST?
Can I hire you to redesign my blog?
You've said that you still love the Doxology. I wonder if you've ever sung with a choir and if you still like to sing. What kind of music do you enjoy singing?
Alternatively, if you were to put together a band or musical group, what would be your ideal contribution?
You seem to have a nice relationship with your mother-in-law. Would you describe the first meeting?
ErinH
I grew up in Calgary suburbs so basically, in a non-stalkerish kind of way, I want to know if we were neighbors. Which burb were you in?
This is a good idea.
Great questions! Everyone else covered mine, so I'll just wait anxiously for the answers!
Would you please tell me more about where you live? The town, I mean, not your home. Did you choose to live there, or end up there by accident? If you could live anywhere on the planet (money and visa concerns aside), where would that be?
Hi Schmutzie. Longtime reader - first time commenter! Several years ago I found your site through Looky Daddy. Since then, I have been a Schmutzie Junky. Here is my question. Could you drive and/or fly to New Jersey and kick Brian's ass to make him re-start Looky Daddy? (you could invite finslippy over and maybe have some beers while you do it!)
Thanks in advance!
Here's one for you: Do you think that words are more powerful than images? Or vice versa? Or is it an unfair comparison? I'm thinking of these questions in the context of blogging, but they're also interesting in a wider sense.
I want to read about your wedding too - but I also want to know what your favorite candy is.
When you picture your internet audience, your blog readers, what do you see?
oooh that's a good question Lee-Lee!
um your readers are pretty awesome based on their creative questions.
i'm behind trying to catch up on this series b/c i wanna know more stuff too!
