How To Connect Your Mobile Phone To Twitter In North America
Monday, July 28, 2008 If you already have an account, log in to Twitter. If you don't have an account, sign up, because you simply do not have enough vices yet.
On your Twitter home page, click on the "add device" link in your sidebar.
Enter "+" and "1" and your area code and your mobile phone number in the area provided next to the mobile phone icon. What you enter should look like this (a plus sign followed by eleven numbers): +13065555555.
Press "Save".
Wait for your verification code.
In Canada, use your mobile phone to dial 21212, and send your verification code via text message to Twitter.
In the U.S., dial 40404 to send your verification code.
The number you dial now is the one you will use to send text messages to your Twitter account in the future.
Voilà! Your mobile phone should now be connected with your Twitter account.
In order to test it, send a message using the same number you dialled to send your verification code.
Your Twitter friends will think your technological savvy is brilliant.
If you are feeling confident enough to start using all the fancing text commands available, check out this list of Twitter commands.
I am staying clear of this list for awhile, because I have only owned a cell phone for the last week-and-a-half, and the verification code in this tutorial was the first text message I have ever sent. Frankly, the whole thing still makes me nervous. It's technology! What's that beep! What are the little side buttons for! As a result, these instructions may need further clarification. Let me know, and I'll fix them up.
Warning: Under some plans, you may be charged for both the text messages you send AND the ones you receive. Twitter does not charge you for this service, but your mobile phone carrier might, so it could be in your best interest to set your device updates to "Off" if you do not have unlimited texting. Follow the four steps listed in the picture below if you would like to deny all updates from your Twitter friends to your mobile phone:
Enjoy! Or find yourself downing cups of sour coffee at Twitterers' Anonymous meetings. You know, whatever floats your boat.

Yay Schumtzie!
I'm on the first screen shot with Guy! Am. Awesome!!
Sorry, too intimidating and a new 'unecessary plastic object'! But the tutorial was clear and helpful Ms Schmutzie!
From the new site of akakarma in case you didn't recognize me
Next step: Google Text!!!
Best tutorial EVAH. And not just because I'm in your screenshot. ;)
Off to go get hooked up w/ unlimited texting then follow your directions....
Did you pay them to say all of that because I don't remember seeing all of the "Hail, Schmutzie" tweets.
Off to check Summize. ;-)
Amy, no, I didn't pay them, but I definitely asked them to for the post. I thought it would be fun. Who doesn't like to receive unwarranted high praise?
Hey, I'm there!
I was just joking. :)
