Get Into Five Star Friday

What is Five Star Friday?

Five Star Friday is a new thing I am starting as of tomorrow. Approximately every other Friday, or maybe every Friday, or however it naturally turns out, I want to post a list of links to stellar weblog entries that you have found out there.

I am starting it for two reasons: first, I like to browse through the internet and see what is out there in the world of weblogs, but I do not get a lot of time to do that these days, and, second, I thought it would be nice to share and share alike while spreading some of that link love around.

Here is how you can get involved:

  1. Read weblogs, and when a particular entry in a weblog strikes you as being above average, make note of it.
  2. Send me a message on Twitter, and only Twitter, with the url for that INDIVIDUAL ENTRY. That allcaps means that I do not want a url for a whole weblog. Just single posts, please. If you do not have a Twitter account, sign up. It is awesome. You will not regret it.
  3. Your submission will appear in the next Five Star Friday, and the author of the post you submitted, be it you (shameless!) or someone else (how sweet!), will be slightly more famous for a whole day.

What say you? You say yes!

So, the first ever Five Star Friday is tomorrow. Go dig up that good webloggy content and send it to Five Star Friday Twitter-wise. We all need some good reading and a little extra fame at the end of the week.

In order to send me a submission, sign in to Twitter, type @FiveStarFriday in the message box with no space between the @ and FiveStarFriday, paste in the individual post url that you want to submit, and hit the "update" button.

---------------------

PS. The reason I only want to take submissions via Twitter is because my e-mail inbox is a mess, and I don't want to lose any of the greatness that you guys have to offer. If you have any problems figuring out how to message me on Twitter, send me an e-mail, and I'll help you figure it out.

I'm all for this. In fact, this is the entire theme behind the rebranding of TopBlogMag into Blog Nosh Magazine. Little to no original content, but rather the best of our old stuff from our own blog's archives.

Reward ourselves for keeping the good stuff on our own blogs rather than pimping it out and blowing our wad when the time comes to post at home.

That reminds me, I need to relaunch Blog Nosh Magazine. Um, soon.

Are you going to do this every week? Beware! I will soon be Tweeting you everything I read! :D

Is there a limit as to the number of posts we can nominate in a week? Will you be publishing everything we nominate?

Must they be new?

I have several WONDERFUL clutch your sides and die funny posts in mind (not mine, alas)

Isn't it ironic that submissions are to be made via Twitter because your inbox is a mess, but if we need help figuring out Twitter to email you?
I think I have too much time on my hands.

I am officially too dense for twitter! I set up an account especially to send you a link but I can't figure out how to message you!

Help?!

Thanks for your help. I've looked and looked but I can't see "message Schmutzie" anywhere (in the sidebar or anywhere else). Maybe I have some kind of setting in the wrong place.

I've posted my link as an update. Perhaps you'll see it; perhaps you won't! It's that kind of a day!

"d schmutzie [link]" also works for direct messages.

Yes, alright, so that didn't work either! So here's a link in the unofficial way. It feels a bit wrong to link to myself, but I could really use some fresh eyes on some micro fiction - like the piece in this post: http://jadamthwaite.blogspot.com/2008/04/snakes-in-snow.html

I've probably clogged up your inbox even more than I would have if I hadn't tried to use Twitter! Apologies!

I can't join another social network right now. If I had any hair left I'd pull it out. Social networking for me right now. Is. Well, it's too social.I need to focus and work on my blogs more. Not less.

Mark Krusen, I did hesitate quite a bit before deciding to use Twitter as my contact point, and I know that some people will choose not to for the very reason you just cited, but in the end I decided to go forward with it so that I could do a better job of keeping track of submissions. Thanks for dropping by, though!
