We went outside to play handball while my parents looked over your house. Your bedroom was going to be my bedroom, and it felt more appropriate to be sworn enemies than girls engaged in a lackluster game. I stood in that driveway and promised myself I would never be you.

I really enjoy these snippets of your life.

When I was about five, we moved into our third or fourth house. The little girl's bedroom (she was my age) was to be mine, and she had the most wonderful kitchen play-set: a stove, countertops, and refrigerator just our size. There were play plates, cups and utensils and plastic food of all kinds. I was so jealous. While my parents looked around the house with the realtor, I played with the little girl's kitchen. They practically had to tear me away kicking and screaming from it.
