#715: Yinks, I Just Yuv 'Em
Saturday, May 26, 2007 Unclutterer will get and keep you organized, or, if you are me, it will feed your dreams of one day becoming organized while you sit around and surf the internet in your bathrobe.
If you slaver over type, go to Ace Jet 170, a weblog run by an English graphic designer in Belfast. It specializes in "found type, print and stuff".
Make your own hikaru dorodango.
"Enclosures: Photographs of Manhattan" by Irwin Klein, 1964-69.
Read Belle Waring's post "Anatramy". Who knew that duck genitalia could be so entertaining?
If you are a closet Budweiser fan, this post at Crooked Timber is for you.
The "Empire" Strikes Back: A Posttranssexual Manifesto" is a foundational text in transgender studies.
"Hell-Bent On Helping: Benevolence, Friendship, and the Politics of Help" by Emma Van der Klift and Norman Kunc.
Custom Creature Taxidermy Arts: "She calls it art... you can call it whatever you want".
Wislawa Szymborska continually blows my little mind. Read her poem called "Tortures".

This is a Szymborska poem I really liked for some reason:

Now that I think about it, that poem is really not so great in some ways. But the Tortures poem is excellent.
Interesting linkage.
Hi - I just wanted to let you know that, yes, there is life after a hysterectomy - I was diagnosed with uterine cancer May 1 last year and had my surgery on 22 May -I was up and around right away and ready to go back to work part time in just a couple weeks (altho they didn't let me..) BUT, I am 20 years older than you - so you should sail right through this woman!
It sounds like you have a fantastic doctor and one that you trust. Go with your gut feelings - surround yourself with people and things that you love. I wish you courage and the best of luck what ever you decide. May the force be with you :-) Tina
p.s. I spent the whole three weeks before my surgery telling my friends and family & I used my blog to the fullest as an info base for them - I even printed out little cards with my blog address on it so it was kind of like: "By the way, I have uterine cancer - here is my blog if you'd like to follow along with the process" Worked for me...
Ha! I was just about to click on unclutterer (to see if it had any advice on how to clean up my dirty, dirty house) and I realize that:
1)I AM surfing the internet, and
2)I AM in my bathrobe.
It's funny 'cause it's true.

True or False
Real emeralds are worth more than synthetics
but the only way to tell one from the other
is to heat them to a stated temperature,
then tap. When it's done properly
the real one shatters.
I have no emeralds.
I was told this about them by a woman
who said someone had told her: True or false,
I have held my own palmful of bright breakage
from a truth too late. I know the principle.
This is my favorite. But, I do love Szymborska. Have you ever read Ursula Hegi's Stones From The River?
Thank you for another source of inspiration, not-quite-reality-dream, of being uncluttered.
Thank you for leading me to that Szymborska poem. Before I was diagnosed with cancer, I may not have understood, I mean, really understood, what she is alluding to. But, after, now, I do. One thing I love about the powerlessness of living with cancer is how it taught me the raw beauty of being alive inside a flesh and bone, humble vessel. By the way, I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers through your trials. Wishing you what you most need.
