"home-less" from Single Mom At Work at Work It, Mom!:
Heat escapes; cold permeates. This is also true for my heart since the divorce. It is hard to keep it warm, keep it heated, trust that warmth will stay. That I will be able to afford the warmth. I no longer believe that I will find a warm place and warm people, not for keeps."The Four Words That Matter Most" from Depressions and Confessions
"Writer Whacked In Effigy" from Madame Paradox
"Beating a Dead Horse" from Make It Stop!:
One of the things that has frustrated me most since 9/11 has been the way conservatives have rushed to abandon the very principles that make our nation what it is in pursuit of security and retribution. They warn all the time that we can't let the terrorists win, but isn't that exactly what happens when we sacrifice our civil liberties, our mutual toleration, our system of justice in order to protect ourselves from the threat those terrorists represent?"Rest In Peace Little Monster Truck" from rathergood.com
"I Am Too Sexy For Google, Mostly Because Google Is Just Stupid, And Also Possibly A Racist" from MFA Mama
"Day 4: Something I Have to Forgive Someone For" from Sarah and the Goon Squad:
I forgive you all. I know you didn’t mean it. I know you didn’t know how what you were saying sounded to me. I know you don’t understand what I do or why it is important or what it means to me. I know that blogging is new and weird and incomprehensible as a valid career option. You don’t know how it feels to hear it. You don’t know how much work I have put into this or what I get out of it or how you have invalidated me as a person. How you have nullified my last five years of work as a stupid hobby that doesn’t count."Chagrin! It's What's for Dinner." from A Whole Lot of Nothing
"For Tanis" from Avitable
"Why I'm Not Wearing Purple" from hameBlog:
So the latest social media meme is to wear purple or turn your profile avatar purple today to support lesbian, gay, and transgender people, or to stop them being bullied, or to campaign against hate-based legislation, or... something."A Culture of Poverty" by Ta-Nehisi Coates at The Atlantic
Thank you — honestly — but I'm not doing it.
"Ramón Found and Lost" from Schmutzie.com
"Nonsense" from Ordinary Art:
Some days I don’t know how to live, and so I simply drive my car with the radio blaring. Something has got to give. I listen to this song on the way to work this morning. I’m blind, and it makes me sad because the sky is beautiful. I try and read the clouds like braille. Nothing makes sense, or maybe everything makes sense but I’m not paying enough attention. All I can think is that at this very moment there are rats hurling themselves into oceans to escape exploding ships. There are people saying sorry. Sorry makes even less sense than clouds. Please come back and share good writing with us over the coming week to be featured on the next Five Star Friday. If you have read a really good piece on someone else's weblog, submit it by Thursday at midnight CST to have it featured on Five Star Friday.

Awesome - thanks!
Holy nuts! One of the best-written, least-commented-on posts I've written is here?
I'm honored.
Thanks!
I know I'm days late for 'thank a blogger day', but the support you give to other writers, cheering them on and creating forums that celebrate their work and their talents is awesome. You're like a Sherpa marking a trail to some of the most authentic and natural writing on the web. So, thanks for the time and effort and support and guidance...and the links to posts I would have been sad to miss.
Hooray! Thanks!
Nowlansgirl, I have a little folder that I call "Love" that I go back to for encouragement now and again on hard days, and that comment is definitely going there. Thank you.
Well, color me flattered. Thanks so much for the honor! How do you even come across all these posts? I've been curious.
Alexis, people send me links to posts via Twitter to @FiveStarFriday. And you're welcome!
I absolutely love to read all these posts from bloggers I don't know! I also hate you for giving me more bloggers to read.
