Intrepid Tuesday: Edition #19

Before we get Intrepid Tuesday underway, I would like to highlight a particular comment that this site received earlier this week:

I think there are a lot of brilliant posts in the blogosphere written by people who aren't mothers and aren't writing about their kids. So why is your site full of mommyblogs? The percentage is notable...

As you probably expect, the commenter in question was anonymous, which is the calling card of faultfinders the internet over.

This website is user driven. Every single link featured in posts here twice a week are submitted by readers like you for readers like you. I do not choose the content; YOU choose the content. So, if Anonymous thinks that the content here leans too heavily in one direction, and if that bothers Anonymous enough that they have to complain out loud about it, then Anonymous has to take some of the blame for it. Help spread the word and nominate blog entries that you would like to see here. Don't complain. Contribute!

Even though it's kind of annoying to have someone complain rather than contribute to change, I am reminded why it is that I enjoy putting together the posts here every week. This is a community affair. The entire purpose of this website is for readers and writers to share and enjoy and perhaps expand our reading horizons together. My Google Reader is now overstuffed and on the verge of explosion because of this website and all the contributors who have taken me to unexpected places on the internet, and I am sure that a few of you are in the same boat. Thanks to each and every one of you who nominates good writing and comes here to read every week. You people make this website happen.

And now, on with Intrepid Tuesday!

"As the Scalp Itches" from Always Home and Uncool

"A Celebration of the Unconventional Mother" from House of Prince

"Self-Proclaimed Facebook Whore" by Lisa at Chick Lit Is Not Dead

"Hello, My Name Is C.J. and I'm a Nasal Spray-aholic" from Traveling Circus

"The Poopin' Doll" from Tiffany's Spot

"Live Blogging My Diet" from Janana Bee

"The Package" from Embellished Truth and Polite Fiction

"In My Next 29 Years" from Not Undecided

"Are Layoffs Unpatriotic?" from Authentic Organizations

"In Which We Contemplate Names For The New Baby But Remain Largely Undecided" from Crooked House

If you've written excellent weblog content, take a moment to submit one of your own entries to Intrepid Tuesday and show off your talent. If you read another person's weblog entry that is so good it begs to be shared, submit it to Five Star Friday to be featured this coming Friday.

Subscribe to this website to keep up with Intrepid Tuesdays and Five Star Fridays every week, and steal one of our buttons for your website to share and share alike.

'Til we meet again on Friday!

Doesn't anonymous know that mommybloggers are taking over the world?? Duh. ;)

I love what you've done with this site, and yes I've found tons of great new reads because of it.

Ugh, I'm so over people complaining about mommy blogs.

I am the anonymous commenter in question. The reason I'm anonymous is that I don't have anything to link to: I do not use facebook, myspace, bebo etc. I do not own a blog, yet. When I do, I'll be happy to comment with a link.
I didn't mean ill to mommybloggers with my previous comment. I DO READ AND LIKE MANY MOMMYBLOGS although I rarely have anything in common with the authors. I only meant that you must get a lot of people recommending different posts from different kinds of blogs, but the links that get featured here are usually in large amounts mommyblogs.
If the posts that readers recommend are mostly mommyblogs, then I apologize.

Sincerely, Ellen M., 23, Finland

I wish I could be a mommy-blog. But I don't have the uterus to do it.

I'm both a "domestic blogger" (aka mommy blogger) and a business/professional blogger... and I feel connected to both communities.

I've really appreciated the times that my business blog posts have been part of IntrepidTuesday or 5StarFriday, because I can tell that being listed here gets some really different people to come look at my (work) blog. It's been harder for me to draw traffic to my www.AuthenticOrganizations.com blog than to www.AuPairMom.com, b/c the momblog has an audience with a built-in "problem' that my mom blog helps them solve. With my other blog, it's all about raising awareness and inviting people to think about their work organizations differently. Where are these folks?! I'm not sure, but ...

Some of them are finding my blog through Schmutzie's hard work, and I really do appreciate it.

First off I love this site. I have found lots of great reads and different blogs. As we all know, it's tough to find good stuff among all the crap out there. thank you. As for Mommy blogs, I went to a site, Blogher I think, that had 10 blogs up for us to pick a winner. The category was not Mommy blogges, but every single one of them was in fact a Mommy blog. Not that I have anything against them, but I am a 55 year old Grandmother and I enjoy something a little more inspiring, like Earwig Sandwich, have you visited her yet. I need to learn how to submit posts and recomendations.

Keep up the great site! As soon as silly blogrolling scomes back on line I'm adding you.

Mary

Thanks again for the hat tip. My blog reader is busting at the seams thanks to the excellent finds found here! I'm not a mom, but I read lots of mom-blogs. I find them rather fascinating, but I also read a lot of non-parent and dad blogs, too. The internet is not meant for just some!
