An Ignored Pot Boils All Damn Day

Monday, November 9, 2009   ·
I woke up with the worst hangover I have had in ages (okay, since Halloween, then) due to hanging out for the first time with Mrs. Wilson last night, so I popped two ibuprofen (which I love to spell, because it all looks like some over-simplified new-speak), and set myself up for a day of catching up on my NaNoWriMo word count, but then I decided it would be more fun to google pictures of fat chihuahuas, which was an excellent if complete waste of time, and then I noticed that the apartment was getting awfully humid because I had lost track of the fact that I was boiling water for my hangover remedy of macaroni and white cheddar, so I tossed some more water in the now nearly empty pot, laughed until I snorted over Miss Doxie's entry about getting a feral kitten, and forgot once again that I was boiling water, so I got up, added more water to the pot, and checked out the photos I took last night while I was still coherent enough to use my camera,

Jay and Mrs. Wilson
Mrs. Wilson with Jay being a total creepster outside

and then I FORGOT AGAIN THAT I WAS BOILING WATER (I am a terribly ridiculous excuse for a person sometimes), and added more water to the pot while hoping that all this artificial humidity would be good for my mid-30s acne, and then I added more water to the pot 20 minutes later, because I have faith that my stomach will eventually remind me that I must eat to stay alive.

The End.

BWAHAHAHA!!!! Oh, I'm so sorry about the hangover. I didn't know it was possible for two women to drink that much beer without a) becoming completely belligerent and b) puking (although those bazillion and one bathroom breaks we took probably got all the fluids out of us) (I don't think I've ever peed that long of a pee in my entire life).

I had SO much fun with the two of you last night. We definitely have to do that again. With non-hangover beer.

Ugh- hangovers. Nice going on the repeated refills. I have a tendency to re-microwave my coffee several times because I keep forgetting I put it in there. And the microwave even beeps at you every minute after something is done!

It's a good day when you get lost on the internet. At least you didn't boil the pot dry and wreck it (which I've done) or boil some eggs for an hour (which I've also done).

CLASSIC hangover brain. Love it.

What is it with boiling water all day and forgetting about it?? I put a large pot of water on one morning to humidify our very dry house. I just barely remembered to refill it twice and my trust in my ability to remember it a third time was slipping, so I did the mature thing. I set the burner on low...then took the dog to the park...went to the library...came home...and found a dried up stain on the bottom of a very warm pan. So much for that. I can't be trusted with water.

Oh lord that picture. It is killing me. If I had a hangover right now I would be weeping with laughter looking at that picture.

When I was young and hungover I used to wander with my roommates around a drugstore near our house that had a toy isle full of random dollar store-style toys ("Balance Eagle" and "Strange Coin of Universe!" and "Bear Puppy: Looks and Feels So Real!") and we would laugh hysterically and roll in the isles until we had enough strength to buy the Sunny Delite and get out and go home to nap.

I completely ruined one of our best spaghetti pots that way... glad I'm not the only one!

I LOVE THIS STORY. You are totally my hero.

Also - mac and cheese is one of my favorite hangover foods too.
