That Girl: I like my new tan.
Schmutzie: For a fake tan, it's turned out pretty nice.
That Girl: I just don't know about putting all these chemicals on my skin.
Schmutzie: Do you worry about that?
That Girl: [shrugs] I'd probably still use it if it was made of baby seals.
Schmutzie: Which brings us back to my new kitten!
That Girl: [blinks] How does that work?
Schmutzie: Well, you said something about seals, and then I thought about the noises they make, which made me remember how the new kitten sounds when she growls while chewing on her food.
That Girl: [blinks]
Schmutzie: If the other cats come too close, she goes OM-NOM-NOM-NOM-NOM, but like a really growly Cookie Monster.
That Girl: [blinks]
Schmutzie: [growling] OM-NOM-NOM-NOM-NOM.
That Girl: Uh-huh. You're in love with her, aren't you?
Schmutzie: Yeah.
That Girl: I'm just going to go back to my desk now.
Schmutzie: [growling] OM-NOM-NOM-NOM-NOM. [inhale] OM-NOM-NOM-NOM-NOM.
That Girl: [audibly sighs as she leaves down the hallway]
Schmutzie: [growling] OM-NOM-NOM-NOM-NOM.

Aw, I can tell there is lots of kitten love going on. All conversational roads lead back to kitten! As they should. :) Based on your photos, she is is also the cutest thing, I quite agree! Your story about saving here was making me tear up. A heartbreaking story with a happy ending.
Heehee! One of my cats does the same thing while chewing! Although in his case, he's purring instead of growling. But he's got that inhale-exhale-while-vocalizing thing down. It is the cutest/funniest thing! I tell him to not purr with his mouth open, but he's too darn happy to care.
Also why the intelligence/inanity graph looks suspiciously like the back end of a fish.
Kitten food = fish. See how that all works out?
How cute is that! You go girlie kitty!! Tell those guys to keep their paws off your food. Is there a name yet or waiting for one to emerge? How about Imogene?
That's the think with kitten, they inspire you to talk about them all the time.
It's their littleness and their furriness and their tiny noses. And that crab walk they do when they are all riled up. Oh and how they act all ferocious with their little kitty selves.
I am exactly this way with bunnies. My you tube videos are proof.

Too cute!! You make me wish I wasn't so deathly allergic to cats. We used to have them when I was little and some of them would purr while eating. Such a wonderful sound. :)
It all leaves me wondering: in what universe is a cute kitty a more inane topic of conversation than a fake tan?
Your post reminded me of conversations I've had with one of my co-workers. Not much was said though. She would mock the sound her cat made while heavily medicated and I would mock my dog chewing a basketball.
Your conversation is much cuter than our ever was.
I've mocked the sounds of my cat clicking at birds (non-cat owners never get this) and mimed this cute little thing she does when she wants you to open the door (air-pawing). People who know me already figure I'm crazy cat lady in-training, but strangers don't really appreciate it.

After meeting your new kitty last night, I totally get it. She is awesome and I would happily have her turn my brain into mush.
You're not really a crazy cat lady until you and your better half start talking to baby racoons on the street, which you first noticed because you thought it was a new neighborhood kitteh you hadn't met yet.
